Chadbourn were contracted by Bovis Lend Lease to provide an emergency weather-resistant screen for the Parliament Buildings in Edinburgh. Bovis had been let down by another contractor and six floors of the building were open to the elements, particuarly high winds. This was a major problem as many of the exposed offices had just been refurbished and interior decoration was about to commence on others.

Not only is the building very high at 21 metres, but wind speeds could reach 50 miles/hour, so it was no small task to build a screen that would be sufficiently robust. The screen also had to enable access to be maintained on all floors with each floor being fitted with single and double doorways. A real feat of engineering, completed in just over two weeks with our standard attention to detail, safety, and neatness. It stood the test of time and protected the interior of the Scottish Parliament for the duration of the construction and refurbishment work.

Having been approached at short notice the service provided by Chadbourn was excellent. The quality of both the labour and the finished product was very good. Their attention to detail ensured the weatherproof screen was erected to a complicated structure quickly resulting in an extremely neat and proficient job.
